atlantafest

IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT CLAP YOUR HANDS! IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT CLAP YOUR HANDS! IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT AND YOU'RE GONNA GO WATCH SKILLET..... IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT CLAP YOUR HANDS!

(i'm so proud to say our youth group started a if you're happy and you know it chant right before skillet came out on stage, and they mentioned it during the concert.) while some sat back and watched skillet bust out some new tunes... the lucky few jumped up and down in the shower of sweat pouring off the stage. you can't go wrong with a rock band who has a cello and violin in every song, that sings about a having a relationship with Jesus Christ. If you've never listened to skillet check out their CD Comostose. if you're a skillet fan already, you probably already know they're new CD comes out august 25th, and Monster and Hero have already been released. We had a good time at Atlantafest rock'n out with itsy bitsy, climbing mountains, watching remedy drive show off their breakdancing skills and camping in 95 degrees. next big event.... THE BOX!

thank you to anyone who helped us get to Atlantafest, we couldn't do it without you!

Commercial Filming

This week, at the best youth group since sliced bread, we filmed our commercial for heaven's kitchen, did a little cooking in the process, and tasted our main courses. it was a little spuratic (yeah spelling probably wrong) but we successfully recored some great footage for our fundraiser. Not sure what heaven's kitchen is? well we're going to be serving a dinner run by chef Adam, our youth group is going to cook, plate, serve, set up, and clean up a three course meal. at 10 dollars a plate you can't beat it! 5 bucks for kids 12 and under! as opposed to hell's kitchen there will be no yelling or swearing, only wonderful compliments, and as much niceness as adam can muster. should be great food, and a ton of fun. SUPPORT THE GROUP and send them to ROCK THE UNIVERSE! the money we raise will be spilt up among the youth towards their rock the universe tickets. Rock the universe is a huge christian rock concert with bands like switchfoot, skillet, and hawk nelson. There is also a speaker, and your tickets get you on all the rides from 4 pm until 1 in the morning! ask adam, christy, mike, or katie to get you a consent form, and sign up to go with us. alright... that's all for this week. ROCK ON!

oh p.s. here's the commercial:)

Pizza Bar

i'm playing catch up today... last week at youth group we had pizza bar night. a small group of us, but we made the best pizza pies you've ever seen. pictures soon... we had everything from new york style to chicago deep dish, and even a new breed of pizza VOLCANO pizza (that's when the pizza has exceeded its limit of toppings and spews over during the baking process.) a lot of pizza tossing was involved, and no one got hurt. well... just kidding. We sat and chatted about our upcoming youth group commercial and heaven's kitchen ideas. ended with full bellies, and a great start to our fundraiser. our discussing food leads us to the quote of the day "cake is moist".

God is Great. God is Good. So we thank him for our Food! AMEN.

a frest start

Hey we (Christy, Adam, Mike, and Katie) have taken over. Awesome! We have so many ideas and plans, you better hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen. We thought we'd kick off the first sunday with a game night including Blind top of your head drawing, Gum sculpting, and Frozen T-shirt defrosting. How about a recap? In our blind top of your head drawing we lost a few animals to the great flood, or all of them (shelby), noah managed to have a few animals that were reconizable, and Adam makes great birds... oh those were giraffes? Gum sculpting left us thinking wow Katie must have taken a ceramics class to make that 3 dimensional face. However other great artists included Josh's hot dog that "DUDE look at those grill marks", Christy's walnut, Sam's guy with a hat, i mean yeah it's an elephant; Megan's starfish, two dogs, and Adams um... flower. geez oh petes. then we move on to the frozen t-shirt defrosting. All teams had a frozen t-shirt in a baggy, and the first to defrost their shirt and put it on a team mate was the winner.
Seth and Christine won.
and poor charles (tyler) had frozen sleeves so it was a close second.
we thought for sure Christina and Sam had it, since the team work was remarkable, but the technique just wasn't a match for the winning teams determination. we end with some prizes and a prayer, and a hope for another exciting sunday youth group meeting this coming week. Bring your friends and earn some money towards your ROCK THE UNIVERSE ticket! and don't forget it's pizza bar night! and come with your ideas for our Heaven's kitchen commercial. YES CHEF! see you all sunday!
